NTSE Stage I is conducted by the State Boards of the respective States, so they give weightage to the State Board syllabus also. In Rajasthan NTSE Stage I is conducted by Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE), Ajmer. Earlier RBSE used to follow the curriculum of CBSE board in State Board also, so all questions asked in Rajasthan NTSE Stage I were from CBSE Syllabus only. But last year RBSE adopted different (State Board) syllabus for class IX & X, hence last year about 6 questions in Social Science section of Paper III i.e. SAT paper were asked from State Board Syllabus, rest of the questions were from CBSE syllabus only. IN 2013 also 6 questions in Social Science were asked from RBSE Syllabus
Here I have prepared an analysis of Social Science questions of NTSE Stage I paper from 2013 to 2017. Have taken papers from 2013 because from this year only CBSE adopted a new syllabus, so old papers have now become inapplicable
Though we can't say that some chapters are important in comparison to others, as in the last five years questions have been asked from each & every chapters. But last year as few questions were included from RBSE syllabus also, so some chapters were given more weightage in comparison to others.
HISTORY (about 12 questions would be asked from History)
In Class IX History, Ist Unit i.e French Revolution, Russian Revolution, Nazism & the Rise of Hitler should be given first priority. Just having one reading of IInd unit can be enough. IIIrd unit can be left as IIIrd unit is no more part of the CBSE syllabus
All chapters of Class X must be given a through reading, emphasis should be on Chapter No. 3 i.e Rise of Nationalism in India
Last year two questions were asked from History section of RBSE syllabus also, so Chapter 3 i.e English Empire and its Resultant Conflicts must be given a through reading
GEOGRAPHY (about 12 questions will be asked from Geography section)
All chapters of Class IX & X (Forest & Wildlife Resources chapter has been removed from the CBSE syllabus) Geography section are a must, you cannot afford to take any chance. Other then the regular content of the chapter, Maps, Do you know, Find out etc. must be thoroughly prepared
CIVICS (11 to 12 questions can be asked from Civics section)
Main emphasis of Civics part is on the Topic - Government i.e. Executive, Legislature & Judiciary
(Last year 3 questions were asked from the chapter Working of the Institutions of Class IX, Four questions were asked from RBSE syllabus chapter Central & State Government, One question was asked from Federalism of Class X)
Class IX chapters must be read thoroughly, class X (Popular Struggle & Movements chapter has been removed from the CBSE syllabus) chapters you would have allready prepared for Board exams
ECONOMICS (6 to 7 questions would be asked from Economics section)
In Economics section emphasis must be on the syllabus of class X chapters. Students must be prepared for questions in numerical form also
