CBSE Okays Board Exams At Class 10 in next Academic Session 2017-18

Students of the Central Board of Secondary Exams or CBSE will have to take board exams after Class X compulsorily from 2018. The proposal was unanimously cleared by the CBSE Board of Governors today.
Currently, 2.5 crore students affiliated to the CBSE board can choose between a Board exam or a school-based examination on completion of Class IX.
To reduce the pressure on students, one of the ideas being considered is to place 80 per cent weightage on the Board exams and 20 percent on school-based evaluation.

Official Answer Key of Bihar NTSE Stage I 2016

SCERT, Patna, Bihar

In SAT paper Answer of the following questions needs to be corrected
Q.86. To which Article of the Indian Constitution is the verdict of the S.R.Bommai versus Union of India related ?
(1) Article 29            (2) Article 32              (3) Article 353              (4) Article 356
Answer given in the official answer key is (1) Article 29
The Correct answer should be (4) Article 356
Article 29 is related with Protection of Interests of Minorities
S. R. Bommai v. Union of India ([1994] 2 SCR 644 : AIR 1994 SC 1918 : (1994)3 SCC1) was a landmark judgment of the Supreme Court of India, where the Court discussed at length provisions of Article 356 of the Constitution of India and related issues. This case had huge impact on Centre-State Relations. The judgement attempted to curb blatant misuse of Article 356 of the Constitution of India, which allowed President's rule to be imposed over state governments.

(3) The Election Commission                                       (4) The Supreme Court
(4)

Answer given in the official answer key is (2) The President
The Correct answer should be (3) The Election Commission
Every party in the country has to register with the Election Commission. While the Commission treats all parties equally, it offers some special facilities to large and established parties.  These
parties are given a unique symbol – only the official candidates of that party can use that election symbol. Parties that get this privilege and some other special facilities are ‘recognised’ by the Election Commission for this purpose. That is why these parties are called, ‘recognised
political parties’. The Election Commission has laid down detailed criteria of the proportion of votes and seats that a party must get in order to be a recognised party. (Page No. 79, NCERT Civics book of Class X)

The Correct answer should be (2) (i) & (ii)
beWhen power is taken away from Central and State governments and given to  local  gover nment,  it  is  called decentralisation. The basic idea behind decentralisation is that there are a large number of problems and issues which are best settled at the local level. People have better knowledge of problems in their localities. They also have better ideas on where to spend money and how to manage things more efficiently. Besides, at the local level it is possible for the people to directly participate in decision making. This helps to inculcate a habit odemocratic participation. Local government is the best way to realise one important principle odemocracy, namely local self-government.

objections and clearifications (SAT D) -
Q.26. Free Trade of goods among nations is called
(A) Privatisation                  (B) Liberalisation                 (C) Globalisation          (D) Exclusion
Answer given in the official answer key is (C) i.e Globalisation
My answer is (B) i.e Liberalisation
Removing barriers or restrictions set by the government is what is known as liberalisation. With liberalisation of trade, businesses are allowed to make decisions freely about what they wish to import or export. The government imposes much less restrictions than before and is therefore said to be more liberal. (last lines, page No. 64, Class X NCERT Economics Book)
Globalisation is the process of rapid integration or interconnection between countries. MNCs are playing a major role in the globalisation process. More and more goods and services, investments and technology are moving between countries. (page No. 62, Class X NCERT Economics Book)
So the correct answer should be (B) Liberalisation
Q.32. "Durand line" is the boundary between :
(A) India and Pakistan (B) India and China  (C) Pakistan and Afghanistan (D) India and Afghanistan
Answer given in the official answer key is (C) i.e Pakistan and Afghanistan
My answer is, it should be BONUS question, as both (C) Pakistan and Afghanistan and (D) India and Afghanistan is correct answer.
Officially India does share a boundary with Afghanistan, however that is in Kashmir area right now occupied by Pakistan. Durand line is the line demarcating boundary between India and Afghanistan. It was demarcated in 1896 by Sir Moretimer Durand.
Recently National Security Advisor Ajit Doval said - India shares a 106-km border with Afghanistan which people do not factor in, national security advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval said on Friday, hinting both at India's claim to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and the threat that withdrawal of Nato forces from Afghanistan poses for internal security in India.

Q.38 Which National Highway connects Amritsar with Kolkatta via Delhi ?
(A) N.H.1           (B) N.H.2              (C) N.H.4                 (D) N.H.8
Official answer key says N.H.2
according to me this question is Bonus
The map on page no. 83, Chapter No.7 Geography NCERT Book of Class X clearly shows that N.H.1 is between Amritsar to Delhi and from Delhi to Kolkatta is N.H.2

The government is set to announce the reintroduction of the Class 10 board exam for students affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE), India's largest national school test-conducting body.

The announcement is likely to be made by HRD minister Prakash Javadekar on October 25 and will be his first major decision after taking over as HRD minister in early July. The Class X boards are likely to be back from 2018.

The CBSE Class 10 board examination was scrapped in 2010 and replaced with the current continuous and comprehensive evaluation that provides for tests and grading through the year as a means to reduce pressure on students.

Reasons for reintroduction of the Class X Board examinations include feedback from states and representative organisations of parents and teachers that doing away with the exam along with the no-detention policy was affecting academic standards, even though studies indicated that the number of drop-outs has reduced.

Trinamool Congress the Seventh Recognised National Party

After winning two consecutive assembly polls in West Bengal, Trinamool Congress has been extended the 'national party' status by the Election Commission.

Trinamool Congress has satisfied one of the conditions mentioned in the Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968 to be recognised as a national party — having being recognised as a state party in at least four states.

It is a recognised state party in West Bengal, Manipur, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh.

Now, India has seven recognised national parties — Congress, BJP, BSP, CPI, CPM, NCP and All India Trinamool Congress.

Recognition as a national or a state party ensures that the election symbol of that party is not used by any other political entity in polls across India. Other registered but unrecognised political parties have to choose from a pool of "free symbols" announced by the commission from time to time.

Besides, these parties get land or buildings from the government to set up their party offices. They can have up to 40 'star campaigners' during electioneering. Others can have up to 20 'star campaigners'.

Notification for Rajasthan NTSE Stage I 2016-17 still awaited

Rajasthan, a State which gives maximum NTSE Scholars every year. The cut off for selection from Rajasthan (last year) 135/150 in the NTSE I Stage was one of the highest in India. 149/150 was the highest score.
Students as well as the faculties/teachers are highly enthusiastic in this state for this exam, but unfortunately RBSE the institute responsible for conducting this exam is least bothered/serious for this exam. Last year NTSE was scheduled on 8.11 and RBSE issued the notification on 28th August
This year the last date to submit the Application forms by most States is today i.e 31st August, in Rajasthan we are still waiting for the RBSE to wake up and issue the Notification
