CBSE makes health, physical education must for Std IX to XII

Students from Classes IX to XII of CBSE schools will have to attend a mandatory health education and physical education class every day. This is a qualifying subject for which grades will be offered and is mandatory for students to be eligible to appear for the Class X and XII board exams. According to new rules issued by the board, the schools will have a daily sports period for all classes. The students will have to go to the playground during the sports period but will be free to perform any physical activity listed in the manual and will be graded on the same.
According to a senior board official, the move is a step to prevent growing obesity among school children. The schools earlier used to have work experience and health education in the senior classes, which has now been replaced with a sports and health education class. “There has to be a period for this activity. However, there will be no exams. Schools have the flexibility to decide what kind of activities they would like to introduce during this period,” the official said. The board had last month asked all schools to reserve one period for Health and Physical Education (HPE) while preparing the time-table for the 2018-19 session.
However, Physical Education (PE) as an academic elective will be continued to be offered to Classes X and XII.
The board has prepared a 150-page manual detailing sports guidelines and methodologies. “The process of HPE will be school-based and will be evaluated and implemented by school teachers only. The marks or grades will have to be submitted by schools on the CBSE website,” the official added. While assessment will be mandatory to be eligible for appearing in Board exams, the marks will not be added to the final result. The schools will not have to have only PE teachers for conducting the period. Every teacher will be eligible for implementing, evaluating and record keeping of HPE which will be completely practical.

Addressing mediapersons at a press conference, education secretary Anil Swarup said the board will take a call in the next 15 days if there was a need to conduct retest for Class 10 Maths exam.
"Regarding Class 10th re examination, as leak was restricted to Delhi and Haryana, if it at all a re-exam will happen, it will happen only in Delhi and Haryana and a decision will be taken on this in next 15 days. If at all a re-exam is done, it will be in July," said Swarup .

CBSE Paper Leak 2018

A similar allegation of paper leak was made during the Class XII accountancy exam, which was also acknowledged by Delhi deputy chief minister, who ordered an inquiry into the matter. However, CBSE had denied that any leak took place, claiming that “all seals were intact at the centres”.

Yet, it reported the matter to Delhi Police and a probe was ordered in the matter.

Sources claimed that question papers of several other subjects had also been leaked during this year’s CBSE exams.

Significantly, the retest for the two exams has been notified for all CBSE schools — across India and abroad. According to CBSE spokesperson Rama Sharma, this year all papers that we sent across Delhi, India and abroad had the same set of questions. This was a break from the norm, wherein four different groups of papers are made for Delhi, rest of India, schools outside India, and one for reserve. However, according to sources, since the paper was the same for all students, the damage is also large-scale.

Marking Scheme for CBSE 2018 Social Science Paper of Class X

We can say that if a student has sincerely studied NCERT book and has gone thorough previous year papers, Social Science paper proved to be an easy target for them. Some of the questions were directly taken from the exercises in the NCERT book. Many of the questions have been asked in the Previous year's Papers.
“I found all the questions very straight. I answered them promptly because I rigorously followed NCERT books,” was the remark of a student, just after the exam
Q.1, Q.10, Q.14 could have proved to be a bit problematic for students, but Q.1 was asked in 2015 also
Five marks question were simple and straight
Overall we can say it was an average paper, most of the students (if has done sincere studies) would be able to score good marks in Social Science Paper
