yourself. Organize your plans comfortably” As you get to know your weak areas,
your agenda should be to give extra time to tackle those difficult lessons and
transform them to strong ones. Without a proper
planning, it’s almost impossible to reach your target. Therefore, to make an
effective preparation for the coming CBSE board exams, every student must
prepare a proper study time table first and then make a habit to stick to the
same.
Focus on NCERT Books
The Board exam you are going to appear will be conducted by
CBSE and the official books recommended by CBSE are NCERT books. Rather than
just mugging up the topics, Students must focus on understanding the concepts
in each subject from NCERT books. When you understand a concept, you remember
it for a long time. Students who just memorize and don't understand the concept
fully face difficulty while attempting tricky question related to that
topic.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced some big
changes to the exam pattern to be rolled out from 10th & 12th Board Exam
2020. CBSE has now declared that it will make
multiple-choice questions (MCQs) more difficult than in the past few years.
According to CBSE's new marking scheme for Class 10 and Class 12, 20 marks will
be dedicated to objective-type questions. Any line from the NCERT text can be
used as an MCQ question; hence, it is important for students to go through
NCERT text thoroughly. All the subjects, including the practical ones like
Mathematics will have MCQs. Students are recommended to follow NCERT books and
syllabus properly.
Workout the Appropriate Syllabus
For the Academic Session 2019-20, CBSE has made
changes in the syllabus of all subjects. A few chapters have been deleted or
have been put under internal evaluation (this chapters will not be evaluated in
the Board exams). Similarly there will be changes in the Paper Pattern also, one
marks Objective questions are being introduced in the Board exams. Check your
syllabus and paper pattern before finalizing your timetable and going for
preparations.
Time Management
Study time should be scheduled for a time when you
are most focused and alert. Develop a study routine that works for you. Study
the learning subjects like Chemistry, Biology etc. at morning time when
efficiency of your mind is the most. At least 4 to 5 hours self-study a day is
must. Divide the time equally to all subjects, don’t forget that each of them
carries 100 marks. Scoring good in few subjects and lacking in others, will
have an overall affect on the % you score in Board exams
Concentrate
in Class
Totally concentrate on the content been taught in the class.
That will help you in better understanding of the concepts. In case of any doubts,
immediately contact concerned teachers to clear them. Any small doubt could be
of major concern afterward and could affect your result.
Note - Making
Maintain a separate notebook for each subject. Chapter
wise all important formulae, reactions, diagrams, short notes should be written
neatly and clearly in this notebook. This small notebook will come immensely
handy when you need to revise your syllabus.

Proper planning and practice promotes better
performance and repeated practice lessens one's deficiencies. After trying
every paper, evaluate yourself and revise the material which you could not
recollect during the practice session.

You should always keep this question in your mind while preparing the board
exams. Identify your weak areas and work upon them.
SUBJECT
SPECIFIC STRATEGIC GUIDELINES
Science
- In Physics,
learn the derivations, formula, theorems thoroughly to solve questions
correctly. Practice numerical problems and keep units on your tips.
- In
Chemistry, learn formula, names as well as the colour of the compounds,
chemical reactions, periodic table & IUPAC rules.
- Making the
proper chart of all the important reactions (approx. 30 main reactions)
can be handy while last minute preparation.
- Biology is
a subject that requires a lot of diagrams and hence it is always suggested
to practice as much of the diagrams you can to get the hand set on it and
can answer any question related to it in exam with ease.
- Keep in
mind that very short answer type questions and short answer type questions
do not involve very lengthy calculations. They generally have a fact
hidden behind them.
- In long
answer type questions choose the question in which you are confident.
Mathematics
- Make a
sheet of important concepts/formulas. Make sure you know these formulas
and more importantly, their usage.
- On a rough
paper, note down exactly what is given in the question paper and what you
need to find.
- Calculate
accurately in given time span.
- Cross check
the units.
- Be careful
while doing the calculations.
- Use sharp
pencil and clear measuring scale for construction purpose.
- Mention
which theorem or properties you have used in solving sub steps.
- Make rough
column on right side of each answer sheet.
- Each and
every step involved in solving should be written in the solution.
Social Science
- Prepare
according to weight age.
- Create
timeline of important dates. Practice Map work by tracing important
locations.
- Practice
mind mapping and write the answers in points.
- If it is a
long answer type question then the points should be written first and then
each point should be explained briefly according to the word limit.
- For
questions like Define or Differentiate, always substantiate your answer
with suitable examples for the same.
- Map should
be labeled clearly.
- Do not
write everything you know, try to follow the word limit.
- Attempt 3 & 5
marks questions always in points. Points to be written precisely, but don't forget to
explain these points (keeping in mind the word limit) as they are Long Answer Type questions.
English
- If you are
attempting the question paper section wise. Complete all the questions of
the section which you are attempting first.
- Do not copy
questions. If writing answer of any objective question, write the complete
statement instead of giving answer in number.
- In writing
section start letter, e-mail etc. from a new page if very less space is
left.
- Adhere to
the prescribed word limit.
- In grammar,
write only answers instead of copying the entire sentence.
- For Novel,
focus more on plot, theme and character sketch.
- Spelling
mistakes and grammatical mistakes can take away your marks. So be careful.
Attempt
Mock Tests for Self Assessment
Exercises
given after every chapter must be practiced religiously. Once you are done with
all exercises, then for evaluating your preparations for the Board Exam, you
must solve some sample papers and check your answer sheet with the help of
authentic marking scheme. Though many sample papers are available on internet,
but I consider the previous year’s papers of CBSE as the best. Previous years
CBSE papers, Marking schemes and scanned copies of students scoring highest
marks are available on the website of CBSE. Just go through them and evaluate
your preparations of the upcoming board exams
Throw away the exam fear and just relax
Fear, anxiety and stress will only hamper your
preparations and ultimately affect your performance in board exams. So, instead
of taking tension, start preparing for the exam with a relax mind. You just
need to put in the best efforts; result will automatically come out to be the
best.
